Harrah High School graduate, Erich Eden, will begin his six weeks of basic midshipman training as part of the U.S. Naval Academy’s Plebe Summer.

Eden joined the Academy’s “plebe” or freshman class, which required his participation in Plebe Summer. While there Eden learned the basics in navigation, sailing, seamanship and damage control, among other skills.

According to a statement from the U.S. Naval Academy:

“The pressure and rigor of Plebe Summer is carefully designed to help plebes prepare for their first academic year at the Naval Academy and the four years of challenge, which awaits them.”

The U.S. Naval Academy is a prestigious four-year service academy that trains its students on how to become professional officers in the naval service through mental, physical and moral preparation. Eden joins the ranks of the approximately 1,200 young women and men that were admitted into the Naval Academy’s incoming class.
