History seekers and art enthusiasts alike will be flocking to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art starting June 18.

The massive collection entitled “Matisse in His Time: Masterworks of Modernism from the Centre Pompidou, Paris” makes its one and only stop in the United States—right here in Oklahoma City!

“Matisse in His Time” celebrates the artist Henri Matisse who worked hard to discover the essential character of his subjects, producing art that was of balance, purity and equanimity. The artist was a social artist, prolific in his own day and is noted for paving the path of modern art.

The exhibit will be ongoing from June 18 to Sept. 18 and is comprised of more than 100 pieces. Visitors will be able to see the full extent of Matisse’s skill, mastery and stylistic nuances. There are nearly 50 pieces crafted by the beloved Henri Matisse that will be on display alongside works from many other influential artists including Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque and Pierre-Auguste Renoir.

Oklahoma City residents will be remiss if they do not take part in the internationally celebrated and transformative collection. Visit okcmoa.com for tickets, times, sneak-peaks of pieces and various other events that will take place for the duration of the collection’s stay.
