“You can’t help getting older, but you don’t have to get old.”- George Burns

Aging is a reality for everyone, but when it comes to how old someone is, perspective is everything. Living an enriching life, one filled with new experiences, fabulous relationships and a whole lot of laughter is more likely when an individual approaches life with an open heart. It is with that same approach that local woman, Myrtle Agnes Zelinda Biagi Maher, celebrated 100 years of life and adventure earlier this year.

In her life Myrtle has seen 16 presidents, the start and finish of wars and the rise of a little phenomenon called the Internet. Her life has been filled with family—she has seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren—friends and community service.  Her Italian heritage inspired her and her husband to open Pizza Milano in 1989.  Recognized by Oklahoma Mayor Mick Cornett and Gov. Mary Fallin, Myrtle’s birthday was met with celebration and recognition.

Although Myrtle celebrated becoming another year older, her lifestyle, light and energy definitely highlight a youthful spirit.
