Edmond North, Memorial and Santa Fe High Schools came together to put on the Edmond Dog Pack Color Run, an affair to be remembered. Each school hosts its own annual philanthropy week, but this run was a collective event to show true humanitarianism.
Participants took part in the non-competitive 5K run as colorful Holi powder was thrown at them for added fun. As proof of the schools and students’ innovation, this run was the first of its kind to be produced by the students.
Keegan Myers, a representative of Edmond North, said, “We want to unite everybody for a single cause.” The Color Run was a family-friendly event produced solely by students that brought the Edmond community together to raise money for the Edmond Public Schools Foundation. Local businesses, sponsors, students and Edmond citizens participated in the fundraiser, uniting the Edmond community for a common goal.
The Edmond Public Schools Foundation bridges the community to Edmond Public Schools in order to better pursue academic excellence. All proceeds from the run were donated to the Foundation. Combining color and community service, these students were able to give back to their schools while giving the Edmond community a fun and all-around beneficial activity to take part in.
