Start a new tradition on Thanksgiving morning with the Turkey Trot in Downtown Edmond.

This event is a great way to kick off the day making memories with your family. The race begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Edmond Downtown Community Center.

Get your group together and race through the 5K chip-timed run, or take in the atmosphere going at your own pace on the one-mile course. Stollers and friendly dogs on leashes are welcome to participate in the festive event. Don’t forget that the participant with the best Turkey Trot costume will take home a delicious prize.

The starting line will be located at Main and Broadway, and the course will travel east on Main to Boulevard. At Boulevard, the course will turn left and travel north towards Danforth. The 5K Run will continue north on Boulevard through Danforth and turn around at a designated marker, where a water station will be located. All participants will travel the same route back to Main and Broadway and cross the finish line. Post-race drinks and snacks will be provided near the finish line. The course is relatively flat and fast and scenery along the course will include public art, landscaping and residences. Plus, keep an eye out for the turkey on the course!

Participants looking to score the 2016 event t-shirt must sign up during the early registration period, which ends November 18 at 2:30 p.m. Discounted entry fees are offered to registrants that do not wish to receive a t-shirt. Runners and volunteers may register on the race website, www.edmondturkeytrot.com.

Packet pickup for all participants with a t-shirt or 5K chip will take place at 28 E. Main Street in the Downtown Edmond Community Center Auditorium on November 23 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. and on race morning from 6:30-7:30 a.m. Last-minute registration without t-shirts will also be available at these times.

In addition to the footrace, there will also be music and other activities. A kid’s zone sponsored by the Edmond Rotary Club will feature inflatables, balloons and face painting. There will also be a raffle with hot-ticket prizes like an iPad Mini, GoPro and more.
