Grab your fishing poles and sunscreen, because the 25-year anniversary of the Children’s Fishing Derby is happening on June 18 in Choctaw! Hosted by the Choctaw Public Recreation Department and the Choctaw Chamber of Commerce, the derby takes place at Ten Acre Lake. The lake is stocked with all sorts of fish: bass, catfish, perch and more.
Children ages 3-16 will be able to compete for various prizes, and all children will receive at the very least a door prize for competing. There will be three rounds of fishing with scheduled weigh-in times for the five different age categories. Prizes will be awarded for each round of fishing, and the grand prizes will be awarded at the end of the derby.
Ten Acre Lake is located on NE 10 St. between Choctaw Road and Indian Meridian. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and fishing begins at 9 a.m. For more information, call 405.281.6854 or email rhill@choctawcity.org.
