Summer means lounging with family and friends, looking for ways to beat the heat and, yep, you guessed it, fun barbecues with those you love.

Just because it’s bikini season, doesn’t mean you can’t cheat every once in a while. Especially, when your cheat meal includes food from Spencer’s Smokehouse and BBQ! This month we sat down with Spencer’s to talk grilling tips, healthy barbecue options and ways you can relax, even when hosting a brood of hungry folks.

1.) Get things hot! If you feel like you need to grill in, make sure your grill is hot enough. Before you start cooking things, preheat your grill 15 to 25 minutes to ensure it reaches the correct temp. Your grill should be 400-450°F for high, 350-400°F for medium-high, 300-350°F for medium.

2.) When it comes to a hungry crowd, the family pack is your best bet. Carol Spencer from Spencer’s told us that family packs are great when you’re expecting a group of people. You can add on to the pack to accommodate larger crowds, but an original pack includes two lbs. of meat, three side pints, four rolls and all the barbecue sauce you can handle.

3.) Healthy is still an option.  Carol pointed out that for those trying to maintain that beach body, Spencer’s offers pork loin, chicken and smoked turkey as healthy options. “Porkloin or chicken are probably my favorite,” said Carol.  For those planning on wearing a coverup anyway, Spencer’s rolls and cinnamon rolls are unbeatable!
