Spring brings with it optimism and new beginnings.

The season rolls around and suddenly things change.  We begin watching the weather closely and moving those heavy sweaters to the back of the closet. We optimistically think of having that garage sale—then, we chuckle and justify putting it off for one more year. We get wrapped up in planting flowers and spring cleaning and almost forget about Mother’s Day.

Even though we almost overlook the holiday in our planners every year, we still love our mommas and want them to know just how special they are to us. What do moms really want for Mother’s Day? A sappy card? Some beautiful blooms? Another candle? All of these items are nice, but I’ll let you in on a little secret—your mom really just wants to spend time with you.

So this Mother’s Day, set aside some time for the lovely lady who raised you and take her out on a sweet date on Norman’s buzzing Campus Corner. You could grab lunch at Chimy’s or gawk at the delightful home decor in Tulips.  However, no matter what your plan is, there is one shop you must pencil in.

That is —you guessed it—Apple Tree Chocolate.

Apple Tree Chocolate opened its doors in December of 2014 and has been crafting fine chocolates and candies for the Norman community ever since. The local business is located on the popular Campus Corner and is the perfect place for something sweet. Look for the big red apple on Asp Ave and then venture into the charming space. With one look at their glass displays filled with delectable treats, we’re certain your inner child will immediately scream (and so will your mom’s). Apple Tree has cases full of gourmet truffles, rich fudge, candy bark, chocolate-covered strawberries, hand-dipped pretzels and candy-coated caramel apples; not to mention freshly baked cookies and muffins, creamy cake balls, homemade caramel bars and Rice Krispie treats.  If your mom loves something on the chilly side, Apple Tree also has ice cream, milkshakes and several sundae options.

While Apple Tree Chocolate purchases some of their treats from another confectionary shop, they make their chocolate, caramel and marshmallows from scratch. Moreover, they hand dip fresh apples and strawberries every day and are constantly creating new, unconventional confections like chocolate chip cookies with a surprise Oreo in the middle. If you get a little overwhelmed and can’t seem to make a decision, their staff is dedicated to helping new customers navigate the crazy, sweet corners of the tiny shop.

We recommend taking your mom in the store and letting her pick one (or two) treats.  Consider your Mother’s Day conundrum solved. For more information about Apple Tree Chocolate, visit appletreechocolate.com.
