Youthful days spent playing pretend as explorers and detectives come to life at Escape Games OKC. Through escape room challenges, the local business expands would-be scenarios into real life detective experiences for small groups and families to enjoy.
In this growing form of interactive entertainment, groups spend an hour inside a themed room sleuthing through riddles, puzzles and challenges to find an exit code. There are two rooms to pick from, each with a vivid back story. In “Cabin in the Woods,” 3-8 people follow clues to escape a spooky cabin they’re trapped in before time runs out. “Prison Break,” for groups of 3-6, takes place in a foreign prison where teammates must rescue each other and find a way out of the compound.
Escape Games OKC is owned by a couple with a toddler, a cat and an affinity for brain games. They are determined to create a gripping and unabbreviated escape room experience. Guests have access to a stocked game room that houses over 100 board games to play before or after their escape game. Participants must be 10 or older, but there is a drop-in babysitting center at the same shopping complex for younger children. Escape Games OKC also hosts large groups, corporate groups and birthday parties that they can personally cater.
Prices range from $89-$119 based on room capacity. Rooms can be booked online. Warier guests are welcome to tour the facility on the northwest corner of Memorial Road and Portland Avenue before booking. Escape Games OKC is open until 10 p.m. with reservations starting at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, 12:00 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
Escape challenges are children’s imaginative games realized, and a chance for adults to revisit the joy of playing them. Whether you decipher the code or not, your family will walk out of the activity feeling mentally invigorated and accomplished.

Editor’s Note:
We decided to give Escape Games OKC a try to see if the experience lived up to the hype. I wrangled up a couple of my interns (Kennedy McAlister and Treyce Glidden) and headed out.
Admittedly, we were all a bit nervous about the experience. Would it be scary? Would we get trapped? Would we fail miserably and return with our heads down?
Well, I won’t spoil the adventure of escaping for you, but I will say that Escape Games OKC is a must-try experience for friends, family, co-workers and anyone in between. Solving puzzles and discovering clues with colleagues was a blast. The staff was very helpful and made the experience a great one!
So, did we end up escaping? I’m here to tell the tale, aren’t I?
